![]() IPL Photofacial with the Lumenis OneIntense Pulsed Light, or IPL, is an affordable and highly effective treatment for skin rejuvenation. IPL is often referred to as a Photo Facial. Unlike a laser, which emits one specific wavelength of light, IPL emits a broad spectrum of light with each pulse. The broad spectrum of light in each pulse allows us to treat a variety of skin imperfections at the same time. Treatments are quick and effective with very little downtime. What is the IPL treatment like?Using a numbing cream (discussed later) immediately before the session may reduce any discomfort. Usually the treated skin stays red for 1-3 days and there may be a little bruising. Brown spots that have been treated usually flake off within 5-7 days. Most people can go back to work right away. This highly versatile system can treat a wide range of skin conditions, such as pigmentation problems, loose skin, superficial and deep wrinkles, and dermal lesions. Immediate improvement is seen in skin tone, texture, and wrinkles; long-term improvement is achieved through stimulated collagen growth. At Tulsa Surgical Arts, we use the Lumenis 1 laser for IPL. The Lumenis 1 is a highly sophisticated, multi-component intense-pulsed light and laser device that treats a wide variety of aesthetic conditions.
