![]() RestylaneRestylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler made of stabilized hyaluronic acid. According to the manufacturer, Restylane is the most popular dermal filler in North America. A similar product is Perlane, which is made to treat deeper wrinkles and folds. What can be treated with RestylaneAt Tulsa Surgical Arts, we use Restylane in a wide variety of cosmetic treatments. This filler is FDA approved to treat facial wrinkles and folds. By injecting the product beneath the skin, it restores volume and temporarily corrects wrinkles. Treatment with Restylane may be used to reduce the appearance of the following conditions:
What to Expect During Your Restylane TreatmentYour doctor identifies the ideal injection sites and cleanses the skin. A topical anesthetic or nerve block can be administered to manage discomfort. Using a special technique, Restylane is injected below the dermis, where it combines with the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in your skin. A brief hand massage ensures proper placement of the filer. You may be advised to avoid exercise, sun exposure or alcohol for 24 hours after your Restylane treatment. What is hyaluronic acid?Hyaluronic acid, the active ingredient in Restylane, is a natural component of human skin and basically provides the “framework” in which skin cells live. There are several other hyaluronic acid products available: Captique, Hylaform, Juvederm®, and Prevelle. Each has various characteristics that we will take into account when choosing a wrinkle filler for you. All hyaluronic acid products bind water and restore skin volume. These fillers can be used to fill hollow areas of the face, including the cheeks and lips. Advantages of RestylaneOne of the main advantages of hyaluronic acid gel and Restylane is that it does not pose an allergy risk for patients and there is no risk of transmitting animal diseases by injection. Since a skin test for allergies is not required with Restylane, patients can be treated on their first visit to our office. The results last approximately four to six months.
