Now that summer is over, it’s time to do something about your skin. A chemical peel can effectively wipe out the damaging consequences the sun can have, not only from this season, but also from years past.
Summertime is synonymous with vacations, weekends at the river, and more time spent outside enjoying sunny days. Unfortunately, all that time in the sun can wreak havoc on your outer layer. Over exposure to harmful ultra violet (UV) radiation can cause a plethora of problems like lines, wrinkles, discolorations, sagging skin, and poor tone and texture.
But you can reverse these sun-damage symptoms with a chemical peel. Dr. Cuzalina is pleased to offer a wide range of peels to give your skin the targeted treatment that it needs. During your personal examination, he will take into account your specific anti-aging concerns and goals, and recommend the right facial treatment for you.
Jessner Peel– This peel is perfect for all skin types. It is often used to lighten up darkened or hyperpigmented areas on aging and sun-damaged skin. This peel can be used on the face, neck, hands, and décolletage—all common areas affected by harmful UV radiation.
Glycolic Peel– Perfect for exfoliating and rejuvenating aging skin, glycolic peels work by eliminating the topmost layer of skin. The deep-penetrating molecules help to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin to diminish lines and wrinkles while evening out the tone and texture of sun-damaged skin.
Lactic Peel– Lactic acid peels are great for individuals with more sensitive skin, or for those who are adverse to active ingredients like retinol. This peel also encourages new collagen growth in order to combat several symptoms of sun-damaged skin, like hyperpigmentation, fine wrinkles, age spots, and brown spots.
VI Peel– Another option that’s safe for any skin tone, the VI peel is specifically designed to help restore your skin tone by reducing the appearance of age spots, smoothing out rough skin texture, and brightening stubborn areas of discolorations.
Obagi Blue Peel– This medium-depth peel works best to treat fine lines and wrinkles, discolorations, uneven tone and texture, as well as many of the typical issues caused by years of built-up sun damage. Obagi peels are generally used on the face and neck but can also be applied to the chest, hands, back, arms, and legs.
Chemical peel sessions at Tulsa Surgical Arts are a pretty quick and easy procedure. Treatments are performed in the comfort of our Medical Spa and only take about 30 minutes from start to finish. Your treatment will begin with a thorough cleansing of the chosen area. The peel solution is then applied evenly over the skin. You may feel a warm or mild stinging sensation as the chemicals penetrate your skin and start to work their magic.
For most patients, chemical peels don’t require any downtime or recovery period. That means you can rejuvenate sun-damaged skin without having to take any time away from your busy life.
Immediately after your peel, you may feel like you have a mild sunburn. You’ll probably notice some redness, inflammation, and puffiness, but that’s normal. Those effects usually fade away within a day or two. Dr. Cuzalina may recommend a daily sunscreen to protect your newly revealed skin. You will be able to get back to your pre-peel routine once your skin has returned to normal.
